My journey with wine began in 2019 during my first harvest in Umbria, Italy. Life there was beautifully simple, and I felt deeply connected to the land. We transported grapes by horseback and pressed them using a medieval wooden press — an experience as romantic as it was grounding.
Since then, I’ve worked harvests across the world — in Chile, Oregon, New Zealand, Italy, and California. Each place, each season, and each mentor has shaped the way I approach wine. I’m deeply grateful for the wisdom shared with me and the hands I've worked alongside.
My family is originally from Palermo, the capital of Sicily. And while my roots are Southern Italian, it was in Umbria that I fell in love with winemaking. Today, I bring that inspiration to the Central Coast of California, crafting Italian varieties from organic and biodynamic vineyards.
About me, gianna
About the brand, fioritura
Fioritura means “bloom” in Italian — a fleeting, delicate phase in nature. It’s a moment that reminds me of the Buddhist idea of impermanence. Just like a bloom, winemaking and farming are constantly in motion, requiring full attention and presence with each step.
The approach is simple: allow the vineyard to lead. My role is to listen — to work gently, naturally, and respectfully — so that the wine reflects the place it comes from. Fioritura is a tribute to those moments of quiet transformation in both the vine and in life.
